Bus Rules

  1. Bus riding is a privilege and you must abide by all rules and regulations and treat your driver with respect and courtesy. Any student who defies the bus driver in any way will lose his/her bus privileges. Drivers have the responsibility of getting students to and from school safely. They must have your cooperation at all times. Drivers may assign seats as needed.
  2. Only students entitled to transportation will be permitted to ride the buses. If you desire to ride a bus other than your own, you must present a note from your parent(s) to the driver. A parental note is required to get off at any stop other than your own.
  3. Students must remain seated while the bus is in motion. You must move over and share a seat and permit room for other students. It may be necessary to have three students per seat. Aisles must be kept clear at all times.
  4. There will be no loud talking, whistling or other loud noises, but normal conversations are permissible.
  5. When school will not be in session for any reason, the information will be broadcast by Bay City stations.
  6. Fighting will be considered a severe disruption and will not be tolerated.
  7. Any student who displays knives, sharp instruments of any sort, fire crackers, cigarettes/cigars, chewing tobacco, matches, rubber bands, water pistols, water balloons, etc., will lose his/her riding privileges.
  8. Damage to seats or the interior of the bus will be paid for by the student or students involved, and riding privileges may be withdrawn.
  9. Use of vulgar or profane language on the bus may result in a loss of riding privileges.
  10. You must be at your bus stop five minutes before the bus arrives, as drivers will not wait for tardy students.
  11. There shall be no running or shoving at loading or unloading zones.
  12. You will board your bus from the side of the road. Do not stand in the roadway.
  13. You are not permitted to litter on the bus at any time.
  14. Students must always cross in front of the bus (state law). Be sure to check both ways for oncoming vehicles, as they do not always heed the red flashers.
  15. Students must not throw anything on or from the bus, or extend any part of the body from open windows.
  16. No food or beverages are allowed on the bus.
  17. Emergency doors must be closed except in cases of emergency.
  18. Students are not permitted to bring any object on the bus which is too large to be held in the student’s lap.
