Values News

As we enter the second half of the 2021-2022 school year, we wanted to pass along an update from the Cramer School Leadership Team (SLT).  The Cramer SLT is a group of teachers, counselors, and administrators who meet regularly to improve our school.  The SLT has two main areas of focus:  improving behavior through Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and improving reading, with a focus on helping students more effectively use text to learn content.

As a district, Essexville-Hampton is focused on the following Duke Values:

I will PERSEVERE!

I will be RESPONSIBLE!

I will act with INTEGRITY!

I will be RESPECTFUL!

I will be KIND!

Here are some highlights that your student may have already shared with you:

  • In September, magician Cameron Zvara kicked off our welcome back assembly for staff and students.

  • Students earn Duke Values tickets for exhibiting positive behavior.

  • Every Friday names are drawn at lunch to earn prizes.

  • Each week, the Duke Values are featured in an episode of Brain Break hosted by Cameron Zvara and starring Cramer students and staff.  Favorite features are Student of the Week and Positive Point. Link to watch Brain Break: Brain Break

  • In November, students and staff celebrated our accomplishments with an extended lunch and ice cream treats.

  • In December, we had a school-wide celebration of PBIS progress with our first ever all-day reading focus.  Students “climbed aboard” the Polar Express for activities in all content areas.

  • In January, students attended an assembly where Mr. Basketball, Jim Jones, shared his story of persevering through challenges and remembering above all else, kindness matters.  Several students got to join him on stage to try their hand at replicating his skills.

We invite you to encourage your Cramer student(s) to…PERSEVERE!  Be RESPONSIBLE!  Act with INTEGRITY!  Be RESPECTFUL!  Be KIND!
